Using a child-inspired approach, the Fulmer Family Centre for Childhood Studies will be Western Canada’s only purpose-designed, integrated Centre of Early Childhood Care, research, and Lab School education.
Designed and built by Vancouver firm Public Architecture, the 23,000 sq. ft. building is at the north end of our main North Vancouver Campus and opens in the spring of 2025.
This state-of-the-art learning environment aids in expanding our ECCE programs, supports a range of interdisciplinary research by ECCE instructors at CapU and doubles the number of childcare spaces on campus, meeting an urgent need on the North Shore.

"The dark exterior of the building is meant as a disruption—a challenge to false narratives about early childhood education. Childcare centres are conventionally painted in pastel hues and bright colours. But nothing conventional will take place here. The Fulmer building will be a site of innovation, imagination and experimentation, where leading practice and research redefine the field."
